چکیده

As predicted by numerous extensions of the Standard Model, leptoquarks (LQ) are hypothetical bosons allowing lepton-quark transitions. Under the assumption that they couple only to quarks and leptons of the same generation, three generations of leptoquarks can be distinguished. The search for the pair production of second generation scalar leptoquarks has been carried out in pp collisions at √ s = 1.96TeV, using an integrated luminosity of 1 fb−1 collected by the DØ experiment at the Tevatron collider between August 2002 and February 2006. Topologies arising from the LQLQ → μqνq and LQLQ → μqμq decay modes have been investigated. In order to maximize the available statistics, a method for the combination of various prescaled triggers with an inclusive OR has been developed. Since no excess of data over the Standard Model prediction has been observed, upper limits on the leptoquark pair production cross section have been derived at 95% confidence level as function of the leptoquark mass and the branching fraction β = Br(LQ → μq), and are interpreted as lower limits on the leptoquark mass as function of β. For β = 1, β = 1/2 and β = 0.1, the combination of the two channels excludes scalar second generation leptoquarks with masses up to 309GeV, 262GeV, and 174GeV, respectively. The lower bounds on the scalar second generation leptoquark mass obtained for β ≥ 0.1 are the best exclusion limits to date.

Pair production of scalar leptoquarks at the Tevatron

We present the cross section for pair production of scalar leptoquarks LQ in p¯ p collisions, p + ¯ p → LQ + LQ + X, at the Fermilab Tevatron in next-to-leading order QCD. Including the higher-order corrections stabilizes the theoretical prediction and increases the size of the cross section for renormalization/factorization scales close to the mass of the leptoquarks. This leads to an increase...

Search for first-generation scalar and vector leptoquarks

We describe a search for the pair production of first-generation scalar and vector leptoquarks in the eejj and eνjj channels by the DØ Collaboration. The data are from the 1992–1996 pp run at √ s = 1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We find no evidence for leptoquark production; in addition, no kinematically interesting events are observed using relaxed selection criteria. The results f...

Leptoquark production at the Tevatron

I discuss the production of leptoquarks in pp̄ collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron. Evaluated on the basis of a recent next-to-leading order calculation, the combined D0 and CDF leptoquark searches lead to a parameter-free lower mass bound of aboutmS ∼> 240 GeV for scalar leptoquarks or squarks decaying solely to a first generation charged lepton plus quark. These results provide very stringent ...

Leptoquark Pair Production in Hadronic Interactions

The scalar and vector leptoquark pair production cross sections in hadronic collisions are calculated. In a model independent analysis we consider the most general C and P conserving couplings of gluons to both scalar and vector leptoquarks described by an effective low–energy Lagangian which obeys SU(3)c invariance. Analytrical expressions are derived for the differential and integral scatteri...
